Convergent evidence for the pervasive but limited contribution of biomass burning to atmospheric ammonia in peninsular Southeast Asia

چکیده

Abstract. Ammonia (NH3) is an important agent involved in atmospheric chemistry and nitrogen cycling. Current estimates of NH3 emissions from biomass burning (BB) differ by more than a factor 2, impeding reliable assessment their environmental consequences. Combining high-resolution satellite observations columns with network measurements the concentration stable isotope composition (?15N) NH3, we present coherent amount derived BB heartland Southeast Asia, tropical monsoon environment. Our results reveal strong variability levels time space across different landscapes. All evidence on hand suggests that anthropogenic activities are most modulating control respect to observed patterns distribution study area. N-isotope balance considerations revealed during intensive fire period, input accounts for no 21±5 % (1?) ambient even at rural sites proximity areas. N-isotope-based variation relative contribution BB-derived further validated independently through particulate K+, chemical tracer BB. findings underscore BB-induced environments can be much lower previously anticipated, implications future modeling studies better constrain climate air quality effects wildfires.

Impact of biomass burning on ocean water quality in Southeast Asia through atmospheric deposition: eutrophication modeling

Atmospheric deposition of nutrients (N and P species) can intensify anthropogenic eutrophication of coastal waters. It was found that the atmospheric wet and dry depositions of nutrients was remarkable in the Southeast Asian region during the course of smoke haze events, as discussed in a companion paper on field observations (Sundarambal et al., 2010b). The importance of atmospheric deposition...

Radiative impacts from biomass burning in the presence of clouds during boreal spring in southeast Asia

[1] The impact of smoke aerosols generated from biomass burning activities in Southeast Asia on the total (i.e., direct and indirect effects) reflected solar and emitted thermal radiation from clouds was investigated using satellite data. We combine narrowband radiance measurements, from ultraviolet to near-infrared wavelengths (e.g., SeaWiFS and TOMS), with broadband irradiance measurements (e...

contribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.

this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...
